Lawrence MA Farmers Markets

Let's get out and support the terrific local farmers who bring their produce to our city twice a week. The new Wednesday location is really convenient with free parking at the Senior Center and along the Haverhill Street side of the North Common. You can stay cool shopping under the trees and pick up fresh veggies, fruit, flowers and crafts. Joining the vendors again this year are the student farmers from Lawrence High School. It's fresh picked, sustainably grown and delicious. Don't miss out! Saturday market is now at the corner of Broadway and Park Streets (Rt 28). More info on their website: www.groundworklawrence.org/farmersmarket

Savor Lawrence Success

Long time since the last post and so much has happened locally. The "Savor Lawrence" was an amazing evening for everyone involved. Our artist friends brought some stellar pieces and Juan Bravo and Alejandro Torrens did not disappoint with their LIVE performance art pieces. Thank you once again to everyone who supported this event and worked hard to make it happen. Bringing flavor and culture to Lawrence with style! Some work by these amazing artists can still be seen in Lawrence at our new store Moderno Appliance and Furniture https://www.facebook.com/ModernoApplianceFurniture

That is just some of what we have been working on all this past year. So we are still going local and working to bring quality products to our community. Say tuned for green tips, appliance advice and helpful information you can use.

Work in Progress - Savor Lawrence Art

One way to tell if something is really going to happen? If people start hanging things on your wall...

The art for the "Savor Lawrence: Local Food + World Art" is arriving and those murals I was telling you about are climbing those walls over at the Monarch. Here is a peek at the work in progress...

Such amazing work, I can't wait til everything is up and people are arriving for the event this Saturday by 6pm. This is the best way I can think of to spend the first Saturday of Spring.

A special thank you to the people working hard to get these murals ready for their Lawrence debut.

Come on out and Savor Lawrence!

Yes, wait! Here is one more peek of a "batea" or antique wooden working tray painted by Johnny Jimenez, before you click...

Special art for the show

We just returned from NYC to collect the art from the NY based artists participating in the Savor Lawrence. It was great to spend time with the creative people behind such amazing work.

This video link demonstrates how one participating artist, Andy Castillo, gets inspiration and motivation from his young, naturally talented son.

Several of the pieces in the video will be available on March 24th. Click for another reason you will not want to miss this evening of art and local food.

Alejandro Torrens art

Here is another taste of what to expect at the Savor Lawrence: Local Food + World Art. Dominican artist Alejandro Torrens will be one of the artists creating art specially for our event in a LIVE, performance art exhibition.

In the words of Art Historian William E. Mierse from the University of Vermont, "Torrens is a member of a new generation of artists coming out of the Caribbean region. The art of these painters often has roots in surrealism and expressionism, but the works themselves show individuality of thought. Torrens is comfortable working with the figure or with abstraction, but in both instances he is concerned with giving form to the human condition. His art is tied to human experience. He tries to illustrate a meditation on the voyage that is life. He aims to capture specific moments in that voyage. He often does this by using color, colors that emerge from the background, becoming richly saturated units that the begin to fade at the edges."

You will not want to miss this. Remember Early Bird Ticket pricing ends on February 29th!

We are so excited to have him join us. Here he is in a past performance:
